Claire & Katie, your friendly, local guides.

We welcome walkers of all shapes, ages, and backgrounds to explore Hadrian’s Wall with confidence. Led by Claire and Katie — two friendly Northern lasses who love the outdoors — our guided walks are flexible, supportive, and full of stories, laughs and local insights. We believe nature is for everyone and are committed to making the trail accessible, whether through adapted routes, regular breaks, or simply creating space to enjoy the journey at your own pace.

Explore the hidden gems and iconic sites of beautiful Northumberland. Learn about the rise and fall of one of Rome’s most famous constructions at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall. Discover why Northumberland has more castles than any other county in England. See romantic moorland, sweeping coastlines and medieval villages. We aim to bring the places we visit to life, by telling you the secrets tales and anecdotes that archaeologists usually keep to themselves. Our tours are perfect for visitors who want to get off the beaten track to explore the history and culture of rugged Northumberland.

Hands-on-Latin

Nigel and Catherine Jarvis enjoy welcoming guests and helping them to experience the very best of this wonderful area, its history, its countryside and its food. Our en suite Garden Lodge rooms are simply furnished with comfortable beds, underfloor heating, TVs, WiFi and spacious en suite bathrooms and showers.

We are pleased to have received enthusiastic praise for our breakfasts, which use local ingredients as much as possible.   Our location, in this central section of Hadrian’s Wall Country, is just 120 metres off the Hadrian’s Wall Trail, Wainwright's Pennine Journey and the Pennine Way; National Cycle Route 72 goes past our front door and busses stop just past our house. We are happy to assist with our guest’s plans for walks and tours, whether these are day trips by car, or bus; or one hour walks through breath-taking scenery. We are able to accept well behaved pets, as long as this is agreed in advance and their owners do keep them under control and they are not allowed into other guest's rooms.
