Our Hideaway Huts, The Bothy and The Shieling, are two "Grande Roulotte" shepherd's huts, each providing luxury self-catering accommodation for two people. Quirky and romantic, practical and peaceful, the Huts are located in a secluded paddock with stunning views across the South Tyne Valley by day and beneath the canopy of Northumberland's glorious dark skies by night. This rural idyll is just 3 miles from the most spectacular stretches of Hadrian's Wall and less than a mile from Vindolanda; with the Northumberland National Park to the North and The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the South, but with easy access to Newcastle to the East and The Lake District to the West, this really is at the Heart of Hadrian's Wall!
Both The Bothy and The Shieling are bespoke Grande Roulottes, providing exclusive accommodation for two people. Each has an open-plan living area with comfortable seating and fully equipped kitchenette opening onto a veranda, whilst the bedroom has a zip'n'link kingsize bed which can be separated into twin singles if preferred. The bathroom has a shower over the bath and is also home to the automatic washing machine! All utilities, bed-linen and towels are included, as are Wi-Fi and streamed movies. The paddock is sown with Northumberland wild flower seed, to provide a haven for bird and insect life. This is A Dark Skies Friendly Site, and has a viewing platform for telescope, where we occasionally host Dark Skies Events with an astronomer - these are advertised on our website and FaceBook Pages. There is charging point available for Electric Vehicles. To avoid disappointment, please note that this private site cannot permit either touring caravans or camping, and space in the Huts does not allow for dogs or young children - but families are always welcome at Stable Cottage!
