There are many walks around the village and Hadrian’s Cycleway passes the front door. The village store is a short walk from the cottage and a dog-friendly pub that serves food is less than a mile away in nearby Newbrough with others only a short drive away. The attractive market town of Hexham is four miles away with a wide range of shops and amenities, an Abbey, a race course and the Old Gaol, England’s first purpose-built prison, now a museum.
